| Frequently Asked Questions
1. What happens when I give you my item?
All items are thoroughly inspected for stains and faults. If any cleaning or repairs are required then we will make a judgement as to whether it is worthwhile given the likely price we will achieve for the item. All such costs are charged to your account at the time of cleaning/repair and not at the time of sale. Note that we obtain significant discounts on such services and happily pass them on to you.
2. When will my items be listed?
Each item received is prioritised according to season and then it joins the back ofthe queue. Queues vary in length from 1-8 weeks and so it could take 2 months before any of your items are auctioned. This timescale will obviously be longer for summer items given to us during the winter and vice versa.
3. How do you set the price?
We use our experience to set realistic start prices. We need to manage the balance between attracting the maximum number of hopeful bidders and eliminating the danger that the item will sell for an unreasonably low price. Please remember that it is in our best interests to maximise the selling price and we work hard to make sure that items sell for the best possible price.
4. Can I set the start price?
We are happy to discuss. It is not our standard practise to give start prices when we receive the items as we set prices at the time of listing – and are influenced by current market rates, trends and seasonal factors.
5. When will I receive payment?
Cheques and statements are sent out monthly assuming you have over £100 owed to you. Alternatively you can elect to have payments made direct into your bank account.
6. What commission is charged?
You will receive 50% of the final sales price subject to a minimum fee of £10 per item. Our commission includes VAT and all auction fees.
7. How can I see my items at auction ?
If you click on Current Sales you will find our “e-shop” within ebay.co.uk. Clothing is categorised by size and accessories by type. Click on the appropriate category and you will see a list of current auctions. Click on an individual item for photographs, description and measurements. You will also see how much time is left to run on the auction and the current price.
8. How long do auctions last?
Seven days exactly.
9. What if my item does not sell?
We normally re-auction twice after an unsuccessful initial auction . After three attempts any unsold items will be returned.
10. What is the returns process?
We will contact you periodically with details of any returns. You can then elect whether to collect them, ask us to pop them in the post - or let them go to local charities.
